We have a beautiful assurance in God that He forgets our sins but fulfils all His promises which are yes and Amen in Christ Jesus.
– What is death? For some people the word death brings a lot of fear in their hearts, for some people it means separation and some it is painful. But there is one death that the Bible mentions that we have to celebrate the death of Jesus. Why? Why does God want us to rejoice in the death of His one and only Son? Why does God want us to celebrate His death? Its because because in the death of Jesus brings the greatest good news to the people of this world, His death gives each one of us the promise of eternal life and it gives each one of us an eternal hope.
– Jesus death gives each one of us a wonderful promise that one day we are all going to see Him, if we believe in Jesus.
– Now the question is “How do we celebrate Jesus’ death?” God commands us to celebrate Jesus’ death by partaking from the Lord’s table. Jesus asks us to remember His death until He comes back according to 1 Corinthians 11: 24-25. Celebrations are usually done with joy but many times we come to the Lord’s take to partake from it, we become very serious. Do you really think God wants us to remember Jesus with sadness? I don’t think so. This is the greatest sacrifice and the greatest love story we have ever known in the history of mankind. God wants us to remember this beautiful gift with joy.
– Secondly, when Jesus gave this command to his disciples, He took a loaf of bread and gave it to them to partake. This symbolises that God wants us to be united, partake with unity of hearts.
– Thirdly God wants us to partake from His table in a worthy manner which means we need to prepare and cleanse our hearts.
– Every time, we partake from the bread and wine, we don’t just remember the Lord’s death and His second coming but we are also nourished in our souls and so it becomes our feast unto the Lord.
– Jesus death makes us sinless which is a good news for us and for the world hence it becomes a celebration.
