COST OF CASUAL ATTITUDE

COST OF CASUAL ATTITUDE

Even today, churches are vandalised and people of God are taken into custody for none of their faults, fellow believers are threatened and persecuted for worshiping true and living God. During Daniel’s time, all of this took place and we saw king Nebuchadnezzar was humbled from his arrogant state and acknowledged the supremacy of God.
His son, King Belshazzar, did not learn from his father’s life, although he knew it and took things of God casually. He ordered to bring goblets that his father Nebuchadnezzar had brought from the Temple of God. He used it for drinking alcohol. He ordered Daniel to explain what was written on the wall and announced gifts if Daniel could interpret the writing.

“Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems. If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.” Then Daniel answered the king, “You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the writing for the king and tell him what it means.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What do we learn from this today?
1. Every arrogant soul who considers himself greater than God and acts foolishly will end like Belshazzar.
2. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. King Nebuchadnezzar was at the peak of his career when God warned him and humbled him.
3. Every casual word or deed against the Almighty God and every act that brings grief to the Spirit of God would be brought to the Judgment of God. King Belshazzar was slain that very night.

How do we respond to such atrocities of people?

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

1. Pray to God Almighty for Wisdom.
2. Act in Reverential Fear of God.
3. Wait upon the Lord Patiently.

May God bless us through this meditation. May God bless us to experience the love of God through this season of waiting upon Him.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬
