Good morning, dear family,
Joseph, the most relatable character in the Bible, inspires us to look deeper into God’s ways and understand the heart of God. It took 13 years of patience and waiting to see the beginning of fulfilment of the plan that God had revealed to Joseph in his dreams.
When the king of Egypt could not find anyone in his kingdom to interpret his dream, he sought Joseph. And for the first time our Dreamer boy stepped out of the Prison to proclaim the Word of God to this king who did not know God. It would have been easy for Joseph to use this opportunity to establish his credential before the king and yet, we see the humility of his heart, Joseph glorified God.
““It is beyond my power to do this,” Joseph replied. “But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.””
Genesis 41:16 NLT
Two things:
1. He Interpreted the king’s dream.
2. He Counseled the king with a plan.
“Joseph’s suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his officials. So Pharaoh asked his officials, *“Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?”* Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are. You will be in charge of my court, and all my people will take orders from you. Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.””
Genesis 41:37-40 NLT
1. GODLY WISDOM – The King admitted that Joseph was a man filled with the spirit of God. He also acknowledged that it is God who reveals the meaning of dreams and credited the godly intelligence to Joseph. How many times have our superiors and teachers at our workplaces and schools/colleges respectively, looked at us and called us people filled with the Spirit of God? That we are filled with the Wisdom of God? The Bible says- “Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.” Proverbs 15:33 NLT. Let’s Pray that God in His grace would make us people who are identified with God Himself.
2. GODLY ELEVATION – Joseph’s life from the age of 17 to the age of 30 is remarkable. From the waterless cistern in Cannan to the Palace in Egypt, from the prison to becoming the Prime Minister of Egypt, from the hatred of his own brothers to the honour from a foreign king – what an Incredible journey! Through all these, one thing was constant – God was with him. When God picks one out from the darkness, He elevates the faithful ones to a greater height than even he or she might have ever imagined. The Bible says: – “That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”” 1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT
Today, maybe Joseph’s story is your story. Maybe you are still in the cistern – disappointed, disheartened and dejected – God reminds you, He is with you. Maybe you are in a prison like situation – God reminds you that He has a Plan for you. I would encourage you this morning to pray that God would help you to hang on to the hope that we have in Jesus Christ.
“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.”
