DREAM OF A DREAMER – 15

Good morning, dear family,

The Egyptians despised the Hebrews to the extent that they would not sit and eat at the same table. They would eat food separately. But look at God’s doing! He made our dreamer boy, Joseph in charge of all the food in Egypt. God took the Hebrew slave to become a top man in Egypt and through the revelation of the dream to Joseph, He saved Egypt.

“The waiters served Joseph at his own table, and his brothers were served at a separate table. *The Egyptians who ate with Joseph sat at their own table, because Egyptians despise Hebrews and refuse to eat with them.* Joseph told each of his brothers where to sit, and to their amazement, he seated them according to age, from oldest to youngest. And Joseph filled their plates with food from his own table, giving Benjamin five times as much as he gave the others. So they feasted and drank freely with him.”
Genesis 43:32-34 NLT

Joseph made them sit according to their age, so all the brothers were amazed at this act of the man who was earlier very harsh with them.

1. FAVOUR – Jacob’s sons were not expecting a good treatment from Joseph as he was very harsh with them and was using a translator to speak. Their objective was to get the grain, get their brother Simeon released and take back Benjamin with them. But Joseph favoured them with a feast at his palace. The fact that we are awake and alive this morning is a favour of God. We will be with Him forever is the grace of God. Today we can call God “Abba – Father” is because He looked at us with favour. Let us worship God with reverence and fear and rejoice as we enjoy His favour.
2. FREEDOM – You see this picture. The brothers, the twelve tribes of Israel, were sitting together and enjoying the meal. They were broken due to their foolishness, bitterness and anger. In Sin they were separated, in love they were set free from the bondage. This will be the picture of heaven one day, all of us will be sitting around the table with our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Let us hold on to the hope that we have in Jesus Christ, that one day He will return to take us home.

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.”
Romans 3:23-26 NLT

Amen 🙏
