Wishing you a Happy Republic Day! Let’s pray for our country, leaders and the citizens (us). Let’s pray for the protection and prosperity of our nation that God has blessed us with.
The greatest irony of all times is when people wanted to kill their Redeemer, the One who came looking for them in love. Joseph’s brother plotted to kill him, as soon as they saw him at a distance.
““Here comes the dreamer!” they said. “Come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns. We can tell our father, ‘A wild animal has eaten him.’ Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!””
Genesis 37:19-20 NLT
Two things:
1. Covetously Scheming : “Come let’s kill him” – isn’t this a quick solution devised in our world? Killing is the solution – that’s exactly what Cain thought. He can kill Abel and compel God to accept his offering. “Kill the competition” – is the phrase commonly used. The brothers hated Joseph so much that they wanted to destroy him, not knowing that God had planned their and their household’s redemption through Joseph.
2. Covering the Sin – Immediately after the plot to kill Joseph was ready, the next move was the intel to cover their sin. This takes us to the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve, instead of running to their Redeemer, they hid themselves. When Jesus shared the plan of God to redeem mankind through Him, they shouted – “Crucify Him”. They were thinking that the darkness would cover their sin.
Even today people in darkness hate and strategise against the Light and Truth.
Real freedom is in knowing the truth and the truth is – “God so loved us that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to save us from our sins”. The truth is – Death could not cover Him, three nails could not deter Him from loving us. He loved us while we were still sinners – Amazing Love!
“Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.”

Let’s live our lives worthy of the Cross of Jesus Christ. Let us live in Freedom knowing that we are the people whom God has revealed His Truth – Jesus Christ. He has taken our sins upon Himself and Set us free from the clutches of sin.
