Good morning, dear family,
Chief of staff – yes, that’s what Joseph’s designation was at Potiphar’s house. Potiphar, an Egyptian officer, who purchased Joseph as a slave from the merchants, made him in charge of his entire household. How? – because God was with Joseph. God blessed Potiphar because of Joseph.
“Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned. From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the Lord began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished.”
Genesis 39:3-5 NLT
A couple of lessons:
1. CHANNEL OF BLESSING – God blesses others through His children, the ones whose hearts are pleasing to Him . Because Joseph was working and living at Potiphar’s home, God made Joseph a channel of Blessing for Potiphar. Let us pause here to thank God – Because you are a Child of God and live a life to honour Him, God can make you a channel of blessing and bless your friends, your family, your colleagues, your teachers, your leaders etc.
2. REASON OF BLESSING – God blessed Potiphar and his business, household and his work because of Joseph. So much so that he could not but notice it and recognise it. That is the power of God displayed through His children. God makes you a reason of blessing for others. Let us pause here to thank God for the job, workplace, business that God has placed us in and you are the reason for its growth and prosperity.
3. ACCOUNTABLE FOR BEING A BLESSING – Joseph did not take God’s grace for granted. He did not let the success take over his relationship with God. He became more accountable, sincere and responsible in his workplace. If we are the Channel and Reason of God’s blessing, are we sincere, accountable and responsible at our workplace or wherever we have been placed? – Let’s pause here to pray – Let us ask God, the Holy Spirit, to bless us with wisdom and humility to be like Joseph – to be accountable and responsible.
“and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. “Come and sleep with me,” she demanded. But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “*my master trusts me* with everything in his entire household. No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? *It would be a great sin against God.*””

Joseph was not only a Channel and a Reason of blessing at Potiphar’s house, he was accountable and sincere in his work and *he glorified God in all the decisions he made*. Even if we are in a secular field of work and many around us do not know God, let us not forget to bring glory to God through our Godly choices, Godly behaviour and actions.
