Psalm 78
V8 “they would not be like their ancestors- a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose heart were not loyal to God, whose spirit were not faithful to him.”
But God continued to be faithful
V17 “But they continued to sinn against him, rebelling in the wilderness against the most high.
18 they willfully put God to test.”
But God continued showing mercy
V32 “In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; in spite of his wonders, they did not believe.”
Yet God redeemed them in small n big issues
V 56 “But they put God to test, and rebelled.”
V 67 “then he rejected the tents of Joseph, he did not choose the tribe of Ephiram;
V 68 but he chose the tribe of Judah Mount of Zion, which he loved
V 70 God chose David his servant, took him from the sheep pens;”
But as we read 2 Samuel, David also fell from God’s standard and doomed, so did following kings.
Still God kept His patience all this while, because He was seeing the end from the beginning; to establish His ecclesia in Jesus Christ. He was tested again and again, even on the cross, yet for all He paid in full willingly, to see us in Christ.
If with stubborn n rebellious generation, he could bring out His promise, how much more He can do with His people who are willing.
I was encouraged by this thought, that there could not be any condemnation, fear, lack, desires, any gap/ void that can separate us from His love, neither getting His promise fulfilled through His church.
