How does God communicate with man?

By Brother Cornelius Jaikar

Acts 2:28
“YOU HAVE MADE KNOWN TO ME THE WAYS OF LIFE; YOU WILL MAKE ME FULL OF GLADNESS WITH YOUR PRESENCE.’”
‭‭ACTS‬ ‭2:28‬ ‭NASB‬‬

He has made known to us the path of life but we are not prepared to hear from God.

God chooses different ways to communicate and I have figured out that He has most weird ways to communicate which are as follows;

  1. God communicates to us through Scriptures. Bible is not just a book it it’s a way of life. God has spoken to us how to lead a life through His Word. 2 Timothy 3:16
    (All Scripture is God breathed)
His Word sometimes gives us a warning, a word of encouragement, or a lesson for life. It’s ”His-story”–written with love as God’s guide for life, “so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Also see (Luke 8:23-25). He can speak to the nature and it responds
  2. God has spoken to us through His own Son. Eg: forgiveness is very difficult for me but Jesus spoke those words to forgive the very people who crucified Him on the cross.
    Hebrews 1:1-2
John 10:27: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
  3. God speaks through nature and His creation. God has placed every single planet, stars n galaxies etc perfectly in place just for us. God put Jupiter at such a distance and it is so big, the gravity of Jupiter is so strong that all the astronomical waste are sucked by gravity of Jupiter. If Jupiter was not there on the solar system then all the astronomical waste will all fall on earth. The earth is both rotating n revolving and we take everything for granted. Take the example of ants who have the amazing capacity to store food and working as a team. I have never seen ants fighting for food. They lift one crystal of sugar together. There’s so much in the nature through which God speaks to us.
Romans 1:20 Through the intricate details and magnificent beauty of all that God has made, we can “hear” His voice. By studying the heavens, we understand more of God’s greatness. And through planting and growing a garden, we “hear” about miracles of death and rebirth. God designed–and spoke them all into existence.
  4. God speaks to us through believers. We forget all the above look for pastors n prophets to speak to us.
James 3:17 God may use a friend, a teacher, a parent, or a preacher to convey His message of truth to us. Their words may come as a warning, a blessing, or as a prophetic truth about our lives. Whether we choose to hear it or ignore it, depends on us. Do their words line up with Scripture? Will God confirm or affirm that truth in us? “The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere”
  5. Numbers 22:28 – God spoke to a prophet through a donkey. Many times we r so filled with ourselves that we are unable to hear what God is speaking to us. That is where sometimes God might speak to us through animals. We just have to tune our ears to listen to Him.
Bottom line is that if we are His children, God loves us unconditionally and will spare no expense to show us. Our part? Believe Him!
  6. God speaks to us through songs. It’s very difficult for me to cry but a beautiful song can move me emotionally. Don’t just sing any song but feel and understand what God is speaking to us.
In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat faced a huge army of enemies who could have easily destroyed His people, but he did a strange thing. With a declaration that his eyes were on God, he sent in a choir of praise singers: “Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: ‘Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever’”
  7. God speaks to us through circumstances. Many times God puts us into different circumstances to make us all grow in faith.
We cannot change our circumstances to our own comfort but we need to understand what God is trying to teach us through circumstances.
Many times we feel why we r unable to listen when God speaks.
He is speaking to us always but we have to just open our ears to it. Don’t open your ears when you are ready because God is ready and available all the time. God is continuously speaking to us, are we ever ready to listen to Him?
God has given us His Spirit who speaks to us.
John 14:17, 1 Corinthians 3:16). God’s Spirit speaks to us through our conscience, helping to make the right decision. When we’re tempted, that same Spirit warns and nudges us to do the right thing.
  8. God speaks to us through prayer. When Jesus was on the earth, He prayed just as a normal human being. He prays to His Father. It’s time we rise up and pray.

We can confirm that God is always speaking in alignment to His Word. So whenever God speaks to us go back to His Word and confirm it from His Word.

Jesus established the communion table with the command to remember Him. Let’s us commit ourselves. Let’s not neglect what God is speaking to us.
We may not know how to pray, but God’s Word tells us His spirit makes intercession for us (Romans 8:26-27)
