Have you seen a person pushing his bike with all his strength? At first, you may think his bike is out of fuel or must be having a flat tyre or his bike engine must have failed. What if you enquired and his response was – “there is nothing wrong with the bike. I simply do not know how to start and use it”.
Many of us behave like that person. We received the Holy Spirit when we accepted Christ as our personal Saviour. The Holy Spirit is all that we need for living our lives in abundance as God desires. But the sad story is that we continue to push the vehicle of our life on “Our Strength”. We do not allow the Holy Spirit, our Helper, to drive it.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
John 14:16-17 NIV
A couple of lessons:
1. Acknowledge the Presence of the Holy Spirit : Do not be like others in the world about whom Jesus says ‘they do not know The Holy Spirit and do not acknowledge Him’. We are not like them. Jesus Christ says that the Holy Spirit lives with you and will be in you. God’s ways are amazing! God sent this gift of the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. It’s a great deposit and through Him, we are sealed for eternity, so let’s acknowledge Him.
2. Embrace the Presence of the Holy Spirit : God has sent the Holy Spirit for you and me, for those who believe in Jesus Christ. Open your hearts to Him. Today, would you make this choice? Jesus Christ says – we know Him. The Holy Spirit is not a stranger, He is known to us.
3. Allow the Holy Spirit of God to Empower : Holy Spirit is in us for a purpose. Jesus said that He would send the Spirit of Truth to help us. How can He help you if you do not take his help?. Allow Him to Empower you. In our own strength we can lead our life only so much – but the fulfilment of God’s Purpose and the joy of living this life is only when we live in God’s Spirit.
Why push the vehicle when we can simply turn on the key and take a ride around? Let’s pray and ask God to help us to surrender our every worry, sickness, pain, fear, tension, broken relationships, stressed relationships, tasks, goals, plans and our tomorrows and today’s into the mighty hands of God, the Holy Spirit, for He has been sent to us to help us through our life. Today, I would encourage each one of us to be a Powerful Witness to our own self.

“For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”
