PRAYER (INTIMACY WITH GOD)
PASTOR ANN GEORGE (POOJA)
What is a prayer?
– Prayer is a place where we battle it out for others – the war room but prayer is also developing an intimacy with God
Why do we need to pray?
– Prayer is for us
– For us to get to know and experience God
When we read Ephesians 4: 12-20, we can learn the following things;
1. We can come fearlessly to God without guilt
2. God wants us to enter in His presence with an assurance of His goodness and joy.
3. God wants us to become more intimacy with Him just as a man and a wife have with each other.
4. God wants to strengthen our inner being.
5. God wants us to be rooted and established in the soil of His marvellous love which is needed for a human spirit to grow.
6. God wants us to feel and understand God’s love.
7. God promises us a helper (comforter, advocate, intercessor, counsellor, strengthened, standby) in John 15:26
8. God wants to teach us and help us remember everything.
9. Jesus went on the mountain alone when it was evening. We too need that time alone with God.
10. God wants us to develop an intentional intimacy…
11. The Lord is intentionally training us in His presence
12. We will get healing from our past hurts when we develop the intimacy
13. God will give us the wisdom to share with others
14. God wants us to be present, open and willing to be worked upon by Him
15. God develops intimacy with us to root us in His love so that we can love others
16. As written in Hebrew 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Faith is to believe that God exists and to understand that God cares and this will come only out of our own intimate times with God. When we grow in our faith, God gives us the burden to intercede for others
Prayer is also developing an intimacy with God…only a spouse can tell the correct things about yourself because they spend time together, love together, know together etc…similarly God wants us to develop that kind of an intimacy with God.
