SIGNATURE OF GOD’S PROMISES

Good morning, dear family,
When Abraham wanted to look for a life partner for his son Isaac, he chose to send his oldest servant to his own people. He made it very clear to his servant what he was expecting from the visit.
“For the Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and my native land, solemnly promised to give this land to my descendants. He will send his angel ahead of you, and he will see to it that you find a wife there for my son.”
Genesis 24:7 NLT
Abraham had only one assurance for the servant regarding the task he was assigned – the Promise of God Almighty.
When the servant travelled and reached, he stood on the promises of God and prayed a very beautiful and a powerful prayer:
““O Lord, God of my master, Abraham,” he prayed. “Please give me success today, and show unfailing love to my master, Abraham. See, I am standing here beside this spring, and the young women of the town are coming out to draw water. This is my request. I will ask one of them, ‘Please give me a drink from your jug.’ If she says, ‘Yes, have a drink, and I will water your camels, too!’—let her be the one you have selected as Isaac’s wife. This is how I will know that you have shown unfailing love to my master.””
Genesis 24:12-14 NLT
A couple of pointers
1. TRUSTING GOD’S PROMISES – Abraham trusted God’s Promise even when it came to his son’s wedding. He did not depend on his or his family’s own choice and understanding.
2. TESTIMONY OF GOD’S PROMISE – Abraham was so strong in his walk with God, that looking at his life, his oldest servant also prayed to God, calling Him the God of Abraham and depending upon Him for the accomplishment of the task.
3. TRUTH OF GOD’S PROMISES – The servant in his prayer sought an unusual thing as a signature from God. He was a stranger in the land. Why would any woman listen to his request for water in a dry and parched land? But He knew the God of Abraham so well that he could pray for an unusual signature.
My encouragement this morning :
1. Expect Greater things from God.
2. Expect Unusual signatures of God’s Promises in our lives.
When we pray, let’s pray trusting God that He would make it possible for you and me
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
Amen 🙏
