“EL ELYON” – THE MOST HIGH GOD

Good morning, dear family,
The name El Elyon occurs 28 times in the Old Testament of which, 17 occurrences are in the Psalms. The name can be translated as ‘the Most High God’ or ‘the Most Exalted God’.
“And Melchizedek, the king of Salem and a priest of God Most High, brought Abram some bread and wine. Melchizedek blessed Abram with this blessing: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you.” Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered.”
Genesis 14:18-20 NLT
This name EL ELYON, signifies that God is over and above all things, spiritual and physical. When we use this name for God, we acknowledge that His ways are higher than our ways and He is to be revered, respected and feared accordingly.
Take some time to meditate on this aspect of God and worship Him for being El Elyon.
A couple of thoughts
1. First Priest of God mentioned in Bible – Melchizedek
2. First Communion as a community of God – Bread Wine
3. First Tithe in service and worship of God – Tenth of all the earnings
All of the above points toward One – God, the Most High – EL ELYON. Today, let’s worship God knowing that He is Almighty God, above every thing that is known, unknown, physical and spiritual. Let’s worship Him knowing that every situation, every sickness, every barrier, every scheme and evil thoughts is under His power and control. Jesus Christ, the Lord above all, to His Name every power, every authority is given, both in heaven and under the heaven.
“The Son (Jesus Christ) radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.”
Hebrews 1:3-4 NLT
Amen 🙏
