Good morning, dear family,
Joseph was falsely accused of an “Attempted Rape” on his master, Potiphar’s wife and thrown into prison. When it’s not your mistake and yet you are falsely accused and punished, your heart will cry for justice.
“Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife’s story about how Joseph had treated her. So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained. But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden. Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.”
Genesis 39:19-23 NLT
Few lessons
1. STEADFASTNESS OF GOD – Though Potiphar was blessed through Joseph, Potiphar did not care to find the truth and punished Joseph for the crime he did not commit. God saw the truth and never left Joseph’s side. Joseph enjoyed the presence of God even in the worst of situations. Maybe one of us is going through a torment because of injustice done. Take heart, God’s steadfast love is our portion. “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
Romans 8:31 NLT
2. SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD – Prison relates to Punishment. But for those who belong to God, Prison can become a platform of God’s wonder. Joseph found favour in the eyes of God and became the favourite of the Prison Warden. He was made in-charge over all other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. God operates in mysterious and wonderful ways. With God impossible becomes possible. “Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!”
Acts 16:25-26 NLT
3. SURRENDER TO GOD – No advocate, no relative, no friend – Joseph had no one to count on for his release. But he trusted God. The God who gave him two dreams – is a powerful God! The God who brought him out of the dark cistern – is a God of rescue! He had heard about God from his father Jacob, Joseph held on to this God and surrendered his worries to Him. This morning, let us surrender our worries to God. The situation may be hopeless, but God is our hope. Everyone may leave us, God will never. “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.””
Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT
Joseph was still in prison. Joseph was falsely accused and called a criminal. But the Bible records something about him that made him different from all the prisoners – “God was with him”. May be our situation is not changing, challenges are not ending – God reminds you and me today that He is with you and me.
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen.”
1 Peter 5:6-11 NLT
Amen 🙏
