10th SEPTEMBER 2017 – REFLECTIONS BY SISTER ANAMIKA

Matthew 14: 22-32 is a very familiar passage where Peter walks on water.

When Peter focussed on Jesus, he could walk on water but the moment his focus shifted for God to his own personal fear, he fell on his face. Peter had a personal encounter with Jesus which gave him the confidence to trust Him completely. When we have a personal encounter with Jesus, we too have freedom with the gift of eternal life. The assurance of eternity give us the confidence to put our trust entirely on Jesus. Just like Peter, in our journey towards heaven, we can reach our destination only if we focus on our Saviour. Know that God is able to take care of all our challenges, we just need to trust Him. If we trust Him completely, we too will be able to walk over every trouble and trials of our lives. But if we lose our focus from Jesus, we too can easily fall like Peter.

In the Bible in the book of Colosians 2:8-9 we are warned that “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily” Let us focus on Jesus unless we are taken captive by philosophy and empty deceit.

Are you willing to surrender yourself completely to God? Are you willing to focus on God alone? If you desire to be free, focus on the author and finisher of your faith Jesus Christ.
