23rd JULY 2017 – REFLECTIONS BY SISTER PAVANI

The communion table represents the unconditional love of the Father. It displays the Father’s heart for sinners like us.God loved each one of us so much that He chose to send His one and only Son to be trashed in the hands of the very people He created. God gave away His Son to make each one of us His own sons and daughters.

Let’s read the below passage and understand how Jesus humbles Himself before dying on the cross.

In the Bible, in the book of John 13:5-8 it is written “After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”  “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.””

Here we can see that Jesus being the Almighty God humbled Himself so much, stooped Himself so low.  A powerful God, the Creator of this Universe brings Himself to nothing to wash the feet of his disciples who were just ordinary human beings. Today in the present-day context, we are the disciples of Jesus. The water resembles the Word of God which means to say that today Jesus washes each one of us, our hearts with His Word just as He washed the feet of the disciples with water.

To be washed daily with the Word of God is a beautiful privilege. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords is daily humbling Himself to reside in our sinful hearts and wash us daily with His Word. Are we willing to be washed and cleansed by the love of Jesus?
