7th MAY 2017 – REFLECTIONS BY SISTER DAISY

The passage from the book of John 8:1-11 speaks about the incident where an adulterous woman was brought to Jesus to be stoned to death. But Jesus surprises or rather shocks the whole crowd and the adulterous woman by forgiving her of the very sin of adultery that she was caught in. As it is written in Psalm chapter 103 verse 10,God does not treat us as our sins deserveor repay us according to our iniquities. The adulterous woman deserved to be stoned to death according to the law but Jesus chose to forgive her and give her an opportunity to start her life afresh. When the adulterous woman expected to die, Jesus gave her a new life. He didn’t just forgive her sins but gave her a new purpose and a reason to live. Many times, we go to God with an expectation to be rejected and punished but here we see a God who is willing to embrace us wholeheartedly with His unconditional forgiveness and love.

Taste and see that the Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
