God has blessed us so we can bless others

James 5: 1-6
“Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.”

James chapter 5 is giving us a very strong message rather a warning to all of us. I’m personally blessed by verse 4 and 5 which is like a warning for me. If we have cheated anyone even to the smallest thing, we are sure to face the consequence of it.

By cheating others or not helping them in their needs, if we still live a luxury life in our own comfort zone then we will be answerable to God on the day of judgement.

God has given us all the resources for a purpose, not just for an easy or comfortable life. This reminds me of a verse which again is kind of check point for me.

Luke 12:48
What about the servant who does not know what his master wants? He also does things that deserve punishment. But he will get less punishment than the servant who knew what he should do. Whoever has been given much will be responsible for much. Much more will be expected from the one who has been given more.”

James 1:10 “But the rich should take pride in their humiliation–since they will pass away like a wild flower”

So literally I don’t want to make myself fat like an animal ready for the day of slaughter as mentioned in vs 5 but be ready for the day of Judgement by doing what God expects from me and my life.
