WHAT NAME ARE YOU HEARING? IS IT CORONA OR JESUS?

Brother Thomas Varghese

Presently our world is going through a very difficult time. Everywhere we are hearing only negative news about people getting infected by Corona Virus. But today God is asking you what name are you hearing? The name of the most powerful God Jesus or the name of a tiny virus Corona.

Let’s see what God says in the Bible. “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can a man do to me?” (Psalm 118:6) God doesn’t say there will be nothing in this world that will fear you, but He asks us not to fear and assures us to be with us in the midst of every fear. When God’s Word is all powerful then definitely none of the man’s words should matter us anymore.

In the book of Deuteronomy 30:19 God says “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” Let us learn to choose life over death and blessings over curse so that we can be a believer which means one who is alive (Believe – Be live)

Jesus met and touched a lot of sick people in his lifetime, but we never see Him getting sick or affected by anything including leprosy. What was inside of Jesus affected other people but nothing from outside affected him at all. Let’s be a true Christian which means Christ in. This Christ inside of us can equip us to fight every kind of stress or disease.

Remember when heaven is backing you up, you need not be afraid of anything on this earth. With Jesus inside of you whenever blessing meets curses, the curses explode. We have eternal life so we need not be scared of anything that cannot destroy our spirit. The world may speak to you and put a lot of fear in your heart as Satan is a father of lies. He will speak only lies and keep scaring us, but Jesus is the truth and in Him we live and move and have our being. (Acts 17:28)

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25) If you believe in Jesus, you will never die. The only truth we have in this world is the Word of God. Take hold of God and His Word today, you will never regret. Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matthew 24:25) The truth of Jesus will always prevail and if you know this truth, it will surely set you free. (John 8:32) Jesus is the Almighty God and He is not a liar. The only book you can rely on is the Word of God.

Let me take you through few of the passages from the Word of God which will help you understand the heart of God and also how it can encourage and build us up.

  • If anybody is in Christ, they are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) hence God sees Christ in us, and the devil is already defeated.
  • God is for me, God is in me and He always works through me. (Romans 8:31) So we don’t have to fear anything in this world.
  • Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. (John 16:24) Only when the Word of God comes inside our heart, we know that we can go to God at any time and ask Him and hence we can always be filled with joy that is complete. What will happen if we carry a seed in the pocket? It cannot grow unless it is planted in the ground. Similarly, we need to plant the Word of God in the ground of our heart where it will grow and bear much fruit.
  • Faith comes by hearing, hearing the word of God. (Romans 10:17) Every day we need to hear the Word of God and do what He says.

If we read from Genesis 3:8-11, we can understand the following;
“God came after man.” (V8: And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord.)
“God calls out to the man.” (V9: But the Lord God called for the man and said to him.)
“Many a times we are afraid, and we run away from God.” (V10: Adam heard the sound of God in the garden and he was afraid.)

V11: God asked Adam “who told you that you were naked?”
Just as God asked Adam, today He is asking us the following questions.
“Who told you that you are good for nothing?”
“Who told you that you are sick?”
“Whose voice are you listening to?”
Today choose to listen to the voice of God. He is more than willing to talk to you but who are you listening to? Open the Bible and God will pour out His heart to you.

  • A man who trusts in the Lord is not afraid of bad news, his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. (Psalm 112:7)
  • God has highly exalted Jesus and given him a name which is above every name. At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow. (Philippians 2:9-11). Sickness might have a name, but the name of Jesus is higher than any other name and at the name of Jesus Corona has to bow down.
  • God’s divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them we may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (2 Peter 1:3-4)
  • We are all called to give all diligence, add to our faith virtue and to virtue knowledge, to knowledge add temperance, patience and to patience godliness and to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. (2 Peter 1:5-7)

In this fast-paced world, we always want the Word of God like fast food but in reality it takes a lot of time to build our most holy faith. Nothing in this world can shake you because God is on your side.

Which name are you listening to today?
If you don’t have the name of Jesus, then you are hopeless. With Jesus, things that come to shake you will be shaken.

  • God says “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3). He is more than willing to tell you great and mighty things. God will take you from glory to glory. But are you ready?

FEAR NOT, JUST BELIEVE.
